This enriching Meknes and Volubilis private excursion offers a perfect mix of discovery, architecture, and authentic local experiences with Deep South Travel. During this Fez to Meknes full day tour, you will visit the monumental Bab Mansour gate, the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, and the Royal Granaries. Your private driver will ensure you have ample time to wander through the Meknes Medina and admire the stunning Roman mosaics at the UNESCO-listed archaeological site. Whether you are a history enthusiast or a photographer, this trip provides a deep dive into the heritage of the Kingdom of Morocco.
Your private driver will pick you up from your hotel or riad in Fes for a full-day cultural adventure.
The journey begins with a scenic drive through lush hills and farmland leading to Volubilis, Morocco’s best-preserved Roman archaeological site. Stroll among ancient columns and mosaics, and consider hiring a local guide to deepen your understanding of the site’s fascinating history.
Continue to the holy town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, an important pilgrimage site that offers spectacular views over the countryside. While non-Muslims can’t enter the mausoleum, the main square and its charming streets are a delight to explore.
After lunch, head to Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. Discover its magnificent architecture, from the monumental Bab El Mansour gate to the Royal Palace (Dar El Makhzen) and Moulay Ismail’s Mausoleum. Stroll through the city’s lively souks, where you’ll find high-quality leather and silver crafts at great prices.
In the late afternoon, your driver will take you back to Fes, where your tour concludes with a drop-off at your accommodation.
Yes, this day trip is family-friendly. The itinerary includes cultural visits and scenic stops that are enjoyable for all ages.
Absolutely. You can adjust the timing or focus on specific sites such as longer stops at Volubilis or Meknes markets.
It’s not mandatory, but we highly recommend hiring a local guide on-site to learn more about the historical significance of the ruins.
Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes. A hat and sunglasses are useful, especially during warmer months.

Transfern var i tid, vi fick stanna på ställen för att köpa mat och vår förare körde väldigt försiktigt och bra! Vår upplevelse var 10/10, vi var 10 personer och det var väldigt bekväm och rymlig transfer vi fick!Posted on GrandTour746743Verified A wonderful taste of Morocco and the desert It was a magical trip. Our guide Mohammed had many years of experience plus he had genuine love for his job and his native country. This combined, provided a very rich 3 days where we learned and experienced Morocco. The scenery was amazing from the Atlas Mountains to the Saharra desert. From the Berber villages to the vast canyons and gorges. The food along the way was local and delicious - we never went hungry. As we spent a lot of time in the car (which was comfortable and luxurious - a Mecedes van), Mohammed was very open to stopping when we wanted to (or needed to!). The accommodations were really top notch highlighted by the tent in the desert. The experience in the desert, traveling on camel to where we slept, the scenery, the massive dunes, the sky full of stars, the chill at night, and the hospitality of the local people made it an experience that I will repeat. I will give this experience my highest recommendation.Posted on Henry OVerified Best trip ever We had the absolute best time. I cannot stress how good our driver Youness was. He was so helpful and made the trip incredible, putting up with all of us. He let us spend extra time in places and the trip was really flexible with what we wanted. The itinerary was well planned and each day had the perfect amount of stuff. The car was very spacious and Youness let us play whatever we wanted (sorry Youness haha). There were some things like the itinerary stating that we would be riding camels on both the evening and following morning in Merzouga, however we only got to ride them in the evening. Overall an incredible experience and will remember it forever!!Posted on Hamma HVerified One day trip to Agafay The trip was very well organised. It was also easy communicating with the team. The driver was on time and we enjoy it the day pass in Agafay. I highly recommend it! We enjoyed it!
